  • Borka Competition “Christmas Tree with us 2010” and the concept of pre-Christmas sales “Christmas Tree Superstore 2010” was conceived as a multi-year project of the Croatian designer society that considers environmental and cultural aspects of decorating a Christmas tree and associated rituals and customs, and the general public offers unpretentious, intelligent, accessible and entertainment alternatives.

The direct objective of this initiative is to encourage the production of the Croatian design and to promote Croatian authors.

Borka is created as a duct tape with a pine branch pattern thus alowing variety of applications (decoration for gifts, your own garland or Christmas tree ...)
There were 98 ideas submitted in competition and 13 of them were recommended by the jury for further production. Borka was one of them. It was produced in 36 pieces and all of them were sold during the “Christmas Tree Superstore 2010”.

  • Chair Tri Design of this chair was primarily influenced by the context of it’s manufacture so it’s aimed toward using of solid wood as a most available and affordable material in Croatia.
The analysis of the construction proved that the joint between the backrest and the seat was one of most fragile parts. Thus a shape of a triangle ensures that the rear leg gives a support to the backrest.
This composition of elements is also made with the front leg which reduces a need for a horizontal spindle.
Main elements of the chair are equal bars in dimension of 28 X 28 mm made of beech wood.
The whole assortiment of the chairs consists of a kitchen chair, rocking chair, and a chaise lounge, with different back and seat variations.

  • I care a lot The peace was made for the project I Care A Lot which was founded in Stockholm, Sweden 2009 by Dana Hakim and Yosef Bercovich and was exhibited in Stockholm, Idar-Oberstein (Germany) and Lisabon.

Concept: The project is connected with the well known slogan “No blood for oil” and global significance of crude oil reserves in Middle East with its effect on the overall situation in that region.

The object comes within a card with an explanation of the work and an empty line to be filled by the user. Every person can make a decision to help and change on his/her own way.
Wearing jewelry is considered as an expression of the wearer’s attitude and his decision to make a difference. The act of putting jewelry gives the wearer sort of an obligation to take action. This decision to help is inspired by the most intimate way of helping others: donation of blood. Donation is very delicate and personal since it literally means giving part of your body. In this context, the idea is to cause a more intimate reaction to the slogan “No blood for oil” whereas “blood” implies to the blood of the jewelry wearer. The user is put in the position of all the people who suffered due to global pursuit of oil.

The object is to be worn on the spot where the blood is usually drawn out of the donator’s vein to remind the wearer of the given promise.

  • Kala Most of the existing kitchen appliances are usually hidden in the drawers after being used, whilst this hairdryer is designed to stay in a visible spot even when it’s not. The idea was that (besides it’s main purpose) it functions as a sculpture.
Inspiration for it’s shape came from a white flower called calla.
Emphasis is also put on a part which is usually disregarded during the design process; the electrical plug. It’s torsion and curves match the shape of the main body and ensure more ergonomic handgrip.
The project was awarded with a special acknowledgement for product / industrial design at Croatian Design Exhibition 07/08.

  • Lea The idea was to make a doorknob which, besides being visually appealing, gives a strong tactile experience. The torsion of its shape makes it an ergonomic piece which fits the hand perfectly. On the other hand, this little sculptural detail can visually make a difference in a contemporary space.
(In the production process the doorknob would be made out of casted aluminium.)

  • UGM With its very unique shape and location, the UGM represents as the architects said “a neuron in the cultural web”. Bearing this in mind we wanted to emphasize the connection and communication that needs to be acquired between people and the building. The gallery has a life of its own, down by the river, bridging the gap between tradiotion and future, which still depends on us.

We bring life to the gallery with every move we make, painting we see, coffee we drink inside its walls we leave a unique mark. Each and everyone of us goes to the gallery with differnet expectations, different interests and according to them, we create our own unique walking/visiting route that changes every time. We have a starting and a finishing point, but everything inbetween varies. We wanted to emphasize this type of communication characteristical for galleries and museums and use it as a basis for the visuals for the new UGM. New visual consist of lines that a person makes by walking through the museum and visiting his or hers points of interest. Visuals are changeable, as well as the routes wich people make walking through gallery.

The whole building is coded through different playfull logotypes for every section (New UGM, Creative Industry Centre, Children’s Museum, Architectural Centre, Catering Area, Tehnical Rooms and Garage) that also serve as a signalisation, and a very recognizable motive for the Gallery as an entity.

Gallery has its own urban, cultural inner life, but only through its openness, possibility to adapt and invite, it can really communicate with the people and the city around it. With these visuals the gallery lives through us, through our routes, it adapts to our interests and together we function in a perfect synergy.

We invite you to leave your mark!

  • Personal object Theoretical research / concept:
The field of the research was the interrelation between people and objects with its implied purpose of determining value criteria of design.
The final goal of this study was to explore reasons of discarding objects and thus is created an analogy with a personal relationship between two people and an ending of one.
As a theoretical basis, the research was divided into three phases: a promise (in which a user creates short-term emotions when buying products), familiarity (when one establishes better relations with the object) and enduring relationship (accepting the object).

    Implementation / film:
In order to simplify an extensive theoretical study, a film was chosen as the main means of expression. Also, the idea was to find reasons of dissatisfaction with objects through interviews with actual users.
So, the entire process of using objects is explored through filmed interviews with four different people. The interviewees were told to choose an object which they wanted to put out to waste. After that, these objects are being changed by the (designer’s) intervention, and designer acts in the stage where the problem occurred.
In the final phase of the film these items are returned to the users and their reactions are recorded.

  • Shopworks The Shopwork project was developed by design students from Zagreb and Zagreb’s Museum of Contemporary with the aim of creating a complete concept of the museum shop and it’s products. As a team we developed several concepts and more than 20 products to be sold there, and they’re presented in our Shopworks portfolio.
Few objects refer to specific works of art whilst the other on the artists and the overall content on the permanent exhibition at the Museum.

  • Segredo / Amalia Rodrigues Fado (destiny) is a form of music characterized by mournful tunes and lyrics, often about the sea or the life of the poor. The music is usually linked to the portuguese word saudade which symbolizes the feeling of loss.

  • I buy, therefore I feel The concept of the project I buy, therefore I feel was created from a personal need for commenting on the current state of advertising everyday products. Not engaging in ads that promote a fashion accessory and clothing, the project is retained only on food products that we buy and consume on a daily basis. The intention was to reverse the existing situation and instead of products that are advertised and sold as a feelsell emotions. How to show emotion if they are not packaged in beautiful boxes, colorful packaging with seductive slogans? How does the family look like, in which shape is a friendship? Purchasing the product we pay for the product and emotion, but where is that emotion? Where did the happy family disapear that we paid when we bought the instant soup?
_Denying the packaging and pack in which the product is packaged, it remains just a banal product itself which does not communicate emotion. Packaging and advertising are the ones who say how to perceive the product. The word family written with barren product, the soup without the packaging invites us to rethink what is the value of that term. The family, a sense of community and belonging is something that can not be bought nor sold. Also, friendship and love, feelings are that we all have in ourselves and should not be found in material things.

  • Climate Change POSTER FESTIVAL LJUBLJANA '09
1st european youth poster competition on a social topic

// If you cant see the climate change, it doesnt mean its not happening //

_The first poster was created for the contest to participate in the festival. The poster was designed on the principle of optical illusions. Certain contrasts between the colors create the illusion of movement. The text at the bottom of posters invite you to come closer to read it. As you move toward the poster, the leaves are starting to move also...

_The sentence meaning is exactly about that, even if you do not see climate change, or an optical illusion on this poster, it does not mean that it does not exist.

//PUT THIS POSTER ON THE FLOOR//
and it will help increase ice albedo feedback

Another poster was made at the Festivals workshop and had to be made without the help of computers.
Ice albedo feedback is a phenomenon that occurs due to rejection of the suns rays on the area covered by glaciers, ice caps and ocean ice. By increasing the earths temperature, ice melts, the water has a lower reflectivity than ice and absorbs more solar radiation, which causes more warming, and thus more ice melting. With its whiteness poster placed on the floor will replace one piece of ice, which no longer exists, and reject the suns rays instead.
